"Good Boy Syndrome" Puppet-Dog
This work explores the relationship between parents and children within the family, seen as a micro-society, in the context of the "Good Boy Syndrome", which exists in society. A person affected by the "Good Boy Syndrome" suppresses their own needs and uses words and actions to gain the love of their parents or others while gradually losing themselves.
In the performance, the performer takes on the role of a parent who raises their child according to their own expectations. The performer demonstrates the process of transforming a puppet into the image of a "Good Boy Syndrome" dog by shaping it according to their desires.
Once the "Good Boy Syndrome" Puppet-Dog has been created, the performer takes it for a walk, believing that the walk is for the benefit of the "Puppet-Dog." Over the course of the long walk, the shape of the "Puppet-Dog" changes. Through this public performance, we have the opportunity to observe the way people perceive both the puppet and the performer.
