Thread performance for the installation
Stills
There is a Thread-Human, who constructs a space by stretching and extending their body along with the thread—slowly, laboriously, and over an extended period of time. This movement is driven by the desire to establish a connection with another person. The thread-human continuously wraps themselves, creating a protective space that offers comfort and shelter.
Once the space is completed, the thread-human leaves, and a passerby enters through an opening. Similar to how a silkworm’s cocoon is later used by another being, my artistic vision sees the thread-human as metaphorically ‘dying’ or dissolving their own body in order to provide a protective space for others through their dedication.
This work revolves around the question of individual existence: the idea that a person may ultimately find their own existence through devotion, sharing, and forming relationships with others. A passerby enters the space and senses the presence of the one who created it.
I install a 'Thread Space' combined with video. A crucial aspect of my work is that viewers entering the space can feel the traces of my presence. The moment they step inside, they are already within my thread space.
The act of filling the space with thread is itself part of the performance—almost as if I am leaving behind traces, drawing lines, or mapping my presence through thread.
